TRON NITE-FINDER - a bootleg review by The Crooks
I was out at Liverpool Markets today when I discovered this piece of awesome - a TRON branded bootleg Nitefinder in box for a tidy $5-
The box assured me that the darts were a delicacy, and they did not lie. Remember though kids, darts are only SOMETIMES food.
The contents were pretty standard - in addition to the blaster, there was 6 suction headed darts, and a small stand for the target printed on the back of the box. The box lists several other products on the front and shows photos on the back - clone Element, Strikefire are visible, as well as a Batman toy clone and a Spiderman toy clone, all in TRON livery. Sadly, none of those toys were on the shelf at Liverpool.
The blaster has the words TRON and LEGACY printed on both sides. The box art seems to indicate that there are glow in the dark elements to this blaster, but nothing on it glows, nothing...
Performance is hard to determine, as the catch was non-functional when I tried to prime it. This indicates to me that the manufacture is crummy, not that there is some uBer spring in there (though it is harder to pull back than a regular NF, which is interesting...). Independent tests of the suction darts proved that they were crap, and wouldnt stick to glue. No surprises there.
The real surprise for me was when I found it actually had a functioning light element, which turned out to be a fairly powerful laser pointer (initially i could feel a small amount of heat generated - it dimmed soon after though). It remains the kind of laser that could damage an eye significantly, so win there, bootleggers.
If anyone is interested in seeing the internals, i'll update this thread with pics. For now, i'm going to enjoy walking around the house lasering things with this useless blaster
P.S. For anyone interested in purchasing one, this was the last one they had, and they said they weren't getting any more. The world will feel this loss, i'm sure...
P.P.S. they had regular, Nerf brand NF's on the shelves nearby in the same market stall for $12... the mind boggles.

Re: [deleted]
That's pretty well done. Is the RSCB end cap/way to open the RSCB to fill the clip in the stock?
Edit: I see a ball valve near the stock. It blended in quite well with the red

Re: [deleted]
still coming up with a name but here is my longstrike v2.
The bbumb is mounted much further forward reducing dead space, still has a clip accepting
conduit breech, operated by pulling the barrel forward and pushing it back.
No idea on the ranges but we will see next sunday.
Added in a safety switch which locks the trigger so you can't fire by accident when its pumped.

push it forward to unlock, pull back to lock.

Very interested in this Longstrike mod of yours, is it similar to Frosty's UltimateStrike mod in Oznerf? Care to share your mod with us? Cheers.

Re: [deleted]
Meet the Strongshot.
- 17/32 brass 1ft barrel, nested in a 9/16 brass receiver
- Deadspace reduced variation of SGNerf's brass breech
- BTv2 (11kg) spring + stock spring (Blue longshot stock spring)
- Still needs work. As you can see, it's got elastic bands around the frontgun in place of proper gluing. Finishing the shell work et al will happen eventually.
- Ranges to come tomorrow morning, but it doesn't look like it's getting any more than 30m (which is disappointing, but I'll experiment with the barrel). However, it seems to be fairly accurate.
Credit to Numbers and Bakabill for help with designing the breech!

Re: [deleted]
W00 dedication finishing this at such a late hour! Or maybe not. Cheetos?
Finally finished a Doomsayer. Second one evar, and definitely some major improvements from the first. Well some improvements and downgrades :s
-Using stock plunger seal + turret seal with the aid of hot glue (plunger seal is around 90% being srs)
-Stock and SS spring equivalent.
-No plunger padding LOL
-Used popatachi's method of barreling, with conduit.
-Made a spring rest for the trigger spring which has Popeye springs.
-Vinyl dye paintjob (looks dark, but its really blue...navy blue lol)
Don't worry, I wasn't licking it ....or was I?
All c0ndU1tz over here.

In the prototype phase right now, mostly for fun and lulz. Still needs major tweaking.
Dual RSCBs, 4 full length darts each, getting maybe 50ft? And the spread ain't too bad either.
